Because of the rarity and high value of original Type 911/75 RSR engines - the FIA permit crankcases to be replaced by those from the 930 Turbo 3.0 (with cast numbers: 930 101 101 4R & 930 101 102 4R or 930 101 103 4R & 930 101 104 4R) provided the cylinder capacity remains original. For chassis 911 460 9074, we were commissioned to build a brand new - race engine, which conforms fully to F.I.A specification - suitable for historic racing purposes.

The engine has been fully flowed and ported and assembled using only the highest quality, proven race engine parts and components, including original Bosch fuel injection pump and high-butterfly throttle assemblies.

Here is a selection of photographs illustrating the assembly process here in our engine shop, before taking the completed engine to the dynometer.

All of our engine rebuilds are run-in, tested and set up on the dynometer, which in this case confirmed a perfect 315.4hp @ 8000 rpm and 237.0 ft./Ib max torque

Note: Original Porsche factory figures are 315 hp with 231 ft./Ib max torque
95x70.4 2994cc /10.3:1 compression.

The new engine was subsequently installed into chassis 911 460 9074 and tested successfully at Paul Ricard on 02/10/2015.
